The PC industry is plagued with lowest common denominator, low cost crap.
Apple and Intel are trying to move forward. We should support that.I do not appear to recall Apple extolling the Intel HD 3000.
Otherwise, I am still waiting for proof that Thunderbolt is on the Panther Point controller and I find it unlikely it is on the processor itself given the current PCIe hackjob to implement it.

They might as well add a Core 2 Duo Mac Book Pro too.
I like your style. Nice and subtle. I almost overlooked your post.

How sad,
I mean a person lost his life because of his actions, and the guard now has to live with the fact that he took a life. All for what - some iToys? Doesn't seem worth it. :(

I don't claim to know a thing about trademark law, but looking at this simply I find it difficult to understand how the term "Windows" can become a trademark but "App Store" cannot.
"Windows" is not the definition of the thing itself, as "App Store" ;)

This would be great. My Cingular contract ends in November so I'll be able to choose any provider at that time, but an iPhone will keep me with Cingular. Also, my current phone is on it's last leg... exciting news!

Blu-ray in a laptop can be done, as Sony did with the AR Vaio (but more expensive, here $5400 in Australia), but probably for Mac Pro and MBP 17".

Not sure if it's a typo or not but MacNN is saying Apple has confirmed a special event for Sept. 14th.

But the top gamers want more than one card with SLI and that means a different form factor.
That's a very, very small market.
Half-Life on the PC sold 8 million out of a market of 250 million PCs bought that year. ie. 3% of PC owners bought it. I'd guess the number of those running SLI is in the order of that kind of percentage again, maybe 10% of that 3%.
And that's a top game. Most decent games sell in the order of 1 million.
The Sims sold 16 million and doesn't need SLI at all which IMHO goes to show that developers should concentrate on original games instead of yet another FPS.

Is this really a page 1 item?
The real news would be a release date, or an upcoming event.
Still, I want one!
agreed. I've come to the decision that whatever apple releases with regards to a phone-like object will probably knock my socks off. The question is WHEN?!?!@?#

Right except iMac.... it'll go to Merom which is a drop-in replacement for Yonah (Core Duo)
Although I agree that eventually Mac mini and MacBook will be Merom, I think it may be many months later..... I think the mini with the Core Solo might get upgraded to Core Duo tho' ... so that Apple can boast to be the _only_ major manufacturer to use dual-core across the whole product range!
Note that if I'm right (trust me!), then there's a gap.... no Apple box with a Conroe? I don't think so.... Apple will introduce a new system with support for a single Conroe. Hopefully it won't be the MacPro with a different mobo, but a completely new box (fingers crossed).
Oh.... the recently released educational iMac won't get Merom at first either... it'll get left behind so as to make the proper iMacs better value and worth splashing out for! :)
I really think the iMac should use Conroe now. I think the reason they used the Yonah chip is that they had no desktop "Core" architecture chips available. While using Merom is the easy thing to do, I hope they don't do it. The iMac is supposedly a desktop, it should use a desktop chip.

The sources pointed out that the USB 3.0 technology currently seems like it will become a transitional product with Thunderbolt to become the finalized next-generation transmission technology.http://www.digitimes.com/NewsShow/NewsSearch.asp?DocID=PD000000000000000000000000019434&query=APPLE

I'm thinkin' Apple should have gone with "iApp Store" (u heard it here FIRST! Let me get a trademark/patent on that) b/c Microsoft is just a big ole' COPYCAT...lol :D
It's not easy to pronounce "iApp Store". It wouldn't have worked out too well.
Apple should have patented "AppStore" as one word instead of two words "App Store". Or should have patented both to be safe.
Anyways, phonetically both sound the same, and that may be a good argument; it worked for Microsoft when they sued "Lindows".

Don't pretend you actually care about 'open'. To you, 'open' simply means 'free'. I'm going to make a stab in the dark and make the logical assumption that all your '720p and 1080p media' is torrented videos. Please, correct me if I'm wrong
To me, it just sounds like yet another person wanting everything but willing to pay nothing. What a sustainable model that is...
Nah, I really don't care about open. No, I do not Torrent.
I just want the technology available without having to buy more junk. I prefer the "one piece of hardware that does it all" approach. :p

100 mil might be a lot, but I think apple got its moneys worth, the got Creative of their back, they got a new accessory vendor, and they get to hold the pattent against other companies. I personally hope that more creative stuff becomes available for the mac, everyone seems to hate them but they make very good speakers, and their sound cards are very popular in the PC world amongst the gamers and even a few pro audio people. With so many products apple shouldnt leave a opportunity overlooked. :D
Good points, I really thought Apple got off this pretty cheaply and if they wanted to settle so quickly it must be because Apple has a range of new iPod products being released very shortly.

It's very, very telling. MS is riding the coattails of their universal licensing racket while Apple keeps changing the face of consumer tech. This day was bound to come.
This is the post-PC era and we'll see MS in decline.

the MB keyboards are ugly, they remind me of some fool proof keyboard for military laptops. They reek of industrial utilitarianism.
It's starting to get early on the east coast; the apple store is still up, are these bad signs?

We are talking about master copies of a digital file, something that could be copied a billion times with nearly no cost. This isn't progress, this is capitalism at its worst.
