What are the odds on a 30" display? I'm thinking it's not likely but would buy one if they built it. Probably unlikely since they did away with the 30" monitors already.

As if, but noone knows what will happen. I mean, what were their projections back in 2004 for 2009-10? Obviously no Apple factor lol!

yes, and photo software runs on computers. "This is the new Aperture. and it will run beautifully on the new C2D Macbook Pro I just announced. Boom. does this... Boom, does that...etc..."
EDIT: iMeowbot beat me to it, but what he/she said
and you have your computer in a desk (iDesk) and you sit down then you work (iChair) and the chair is placed on a floor (iFloor)....
Apple will eventually update both MB and MBP, but I doubt they send out an invitation for an update, in particular if the venue for the presentation is a photo convention.

I just bought one of the new BlackBerry's (8703e) for Verizion. That should keep me satisfied until January.
I just want to commend Verizon Wireless on their service though, I ordered the phone at 10pm Last Night, it's already been shipped :)
Anywoo, Bring on the iPhone!

Flame me if you must, but what is the sense in having multiple cores if the software running on it doesn't take advantage of it? Same thing with advertising the new chips as being 64 bit. That's great, but I don't have anything (not in beta) that can use it.
Apple themselves have never been great at making use of multiple processors (in tandem), so I'm not getting how 4, 8, 32 cores makes much difference? How many times do I need to remind some of you that it doesn't matter if applications can only use one or two cores? You can run a bunch of things at once with all these cores at your disposal. That to me is what's important, as I think so should you think - not that one application can't use more than one or two cores. If anything, it's a good thing some only use one or two cores.
You can run a bunch of things at once - Simultaneously - with all these cores at your disposal. That's what's important - not that one application can't use more than one or two cores. On the contrary. If I had 8 cores I wouldn't have to quit Mail all the time.
Do you realize that Mail uses 100% of a core ALL THE TIME? If I leave it open I only have 3 cores to work with. I mean it's rediculous. I have to QUIT Mail to do my work. Absurd.
We Need More Cores And We Need Them NOW!According to the Page 2 Rumors there are some significant speed ups to OpenGL in the next update to 10.4 due to multithreading. Apple has had 4 processor systems for over a year now. I would think they have some ideas about how to make use of it.
Things like the next version of iChat... 1 core to run some application, another for the computer to compress that image into a nice stream to be broadcast over the net, and another to do the actual operation of iChat and the OS and whatever else you have in the background at the time.
There are all sorts of stupid (and not so stupid) ways to eat up processor cycles if you have them. :rolleyes:You took the words right out of my fingers. Bravo sisyphus.

Cingular is one of the only GSM providers in the USA. This is great news!
Yeah, one of the only ones besides T-Mobile, AllTel, and AT&T Wireless (who they bought out).

As damienvfx suggestes there are plenty of commercials beyond trailers when you go out to the movies these days, which can easily be a $50+ affair, so why expect to be ad-free...
There have also been some ads (albeit more like trailers) tacked on th the end of some shows I have bought on iTMS.
But as I said, for HOME viewing, is there a precedent for ads?
What ads have you seen on iTunes shows? Were they for other shows, or for other products?

There is no way in hell that they will introduce laptops at this event.
Period.
Wht the hell not? I don't know a single pro photographer who's laptop isn't crucial to their workflow. Photographers are probably the #1 users of pro-grade laptops and the ones who would most welcome the new hardware and the performance boost it afforded.

So, the video streaming to TV device... how likely do you all think it is that they'll let you stream your own video through it? If I could stream my totally legally sourced DivX movies (ahem) through it that would be awesome beyond words!
I think they'd have to let you stream anything you want over it. The only problem I could see is that maybe it wouldn't support DivX or some other formats. Quicktime doesn't support DivX without plug-ins, right?

Yeah, let's all waste time worrying about a "possible" threat that hasn't proved to be any significant danger in the wild. It's even better that we can worry about it in an obsolete version of the OS!

Scotch tape.
In the UK its sellotape ( got the spelling correct ) to refer to sticky tape.
"Don't sellotape the paper to the wall, the paint will come off!"
Scotch tape is a brand name of sticky tape, as is sellotape.

See, that's really the point. Apple was the first to use this term.
No they weren't. This has been discussed time and time again here. The word "App" has been used for decades to describe a software Application.
For example "Killer App", or more recently, "Web App" ( Java )

I don't usually read SLA's, but it's all right there, Page 1, Section 4, subsection b. And if don't want your iPhone to collect this data, turn off the feature.

that's the question of course :) maybe it will be the killer application to convert windows users to mac :p
or windows users can connect their pc's to a tv with a few cables, so that they also can play the movies from the movie store on their tv's but in that case the pc must be next to the computer.
LOL. I understand that you're speaking in jest, but honestly I don't see Apple implementing the Movie Store differently w/ PC users. Remember that the iPod/iTunes didn't explode in popularity until they were PC-friendly. If the PC side had anything different in it's implementation like your post implies, then I highly doubt the iPod/iTunes would have been as successful as it is now.

If Samsung breached the supply contract, they would be sued again. The difference is that in the infringement suit, Apple has a moderate case and the remedy if they win will be $100M-$2B range. In a contract infringment, Apple would have an ironclad case, and the remedy would be $100B-$300B-- in other words, Samsung would become a division of Apple.
Could you please link the contract (since you seem to know everything about it), and out of curiosity where did you get your law degree?

You seem to be unfamiliar with our court system. This case could have dragged on for YEARS, and cost Apple a TON of money--possibly far more than 100 Million.
Not really. Creative was going broke. This was the best possible outcome for them.
To Apple it could have made all the sense of a business deal.
Imagine the lawyers:
"Ride it out and you may win or you may lose and it'll cost you $200-250 million.
Pay up now, get Creative on board, don't appear to be the bad guy and close any issues with patents - now and in the future - for $100 million."

It's hard to believe it's been almost three years since my first mac, definitely time for an upgrade as I am using parallels v.6 for Auto-cad inventor and even the 6 GB of RAM is keeping it slow.
I really hope the 24" is re-released. It is the perfect size and plus I have a Samsung Syncmaster 24" display that I don't want to dwarf. :D:D:D

that top spec 27" is never going to happen, it will have 4GB RAM and a i5 processor with BTO option of a i7
Hate to say it but IMHO you are completely wrong there. Look at the refreshed MBP and then read your statement, nearly ALL the current gen MBP have i7 processors.
Based on this I would guess that ALL iMac models will too, with the exception of the entry me el iMac.
Personally I am hoping for a decent GPU; although I'm primarily an xbox gamer I do enjoy the odd month of WoW and steam gaming.
