maybe we're backwards here. but i have NEVER, EVER heard of ANY kind of phone service where INCOMING calls are anything BUT free (excluding reverse-charge, obviously).

What tone? Yeah I don't want to spend that much. I'm thinking $4k max for an 8 Core-In-One Mac Pro. I'm sure I'll be pretty happy with 8 until I find out I still have to wait a lot for video compressions to happen. Then I'll be right back here complaining about how 8 cores isn't enough either.I still wonder if all this video editing is personal or for profit. :rolleyes:

Far faster than using the mouse. Mac OS X is very good at providing keyboard shortcuts, far better than Windows, although that may have changed with Windows 7.

With the exception of firmware updates, Merom is a drop-in replacement for Yonah, so, architecturally, there should be few changes. There will likely be a few case changes to incoporate the magnetic latch and easy drive swapping. With such minor changes, these laptops are no more likely to have problems than other laptop. According to Consumer Reports (http://www.consumerreports.org:80/cro/index.htm), the industry rate of repairs on laptops is 16-19%, with Apple coming in at 17% (considerably worse than its repair rate for desktops). So, there is about a 1 in 6 chance that your MBP will need repairs at some time.
That would be great but honestly, after all the updates this week, i don't think its gonna happen.
So a few more months before Apple makes *my* MBP 15". Sadly.

I had an iPhone 3G and even though I loved it, I decided to give Android a try. The Samsung Fascinate looked more like an iPhone than any other Android phone so I bought it.

I want an iTunes Movie Store, but to me it would be a lot better if you had the choice between a $9.99 download and a $2 or $3 rental that expired after a couple days. I honestly don't buy very many movies at all, because I rarely watch a movie twice. I do like to rent them though, and anything that made that more convenient would be great.

I almost never buy movies but we do use Netflix. How about a model just like that. A monthly fee based on how many active movies you can have a one time. You can watch them as long as you like but when you download another you have to give one up.

What I don't get is why can't Apple enable any iOS device (iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad) as an Airplay target device? Obviously iOS supports it as Apple TV can be a target for Airplay from iTunes.
There are apps for AirPlay.

Apple isn't the only one doing this though. If you have a cell phone, your tracked. But everyone should know this anyway. I peaked at some of the data on my backup (listed earlier). According to the agreement about, states as long as your device is not identifiably, they can do this. Am pretty sure somewhere in all that data your device is identified. Example: plug your iPhone, iPod or iPad in another Mac, you get the warning your device IS synced with another computer.

Speculation is that O2 will have the exclusive rights to the iPhone in Europe. You can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think O2 is somehow connected to Orange. So it looks like the iPhone will have a carrier in Europe and the UK.

Why? Thunderbolt is essentially an external PCI-E port.
But, why should one have to buy a ThunderPort to eSATA hub and a ThunderPort to USB 3.0 hub and clutter my desk and waste two of my precious daisy-chain positions just to have some ports that are common in un-Apple systems?
ThunderPort is cool, but that doesn't mean that it wouldn't be useful to simply build in common ports.

Wonderful... why would Apple choose the carrier with the worst coverage and customer service (well, besides Sprint)??? T-Mobile or Verizon would be better choices...
You know, if Cingular didn't spend the $$$ to get all of the cool phones first, I think they would be out of business by now... If someone has had a different experience with Cingular, please let me know ;)
I still think Apple should go the Mobile Virtual Network Operator route ala Virgin Mobile, Helio, Amp'd, mobile ESPN, etc.

$10 ~ $15, if that is the price for anything below a 720p encoding of a movie, would be the stupidest thing that Apple has done. (Well, at least in the last 10 years or so.)
If they do 720p encodes - and that would have to be the minimum, as they really should be 1080p - then they might have something worthwhile. The problem is, this will totally clash with the move to Blu-Ray and HD-DVD, so being realistic, my guess would be 480p encodes. Which, of course, then makes purchasing movies this way versus DVD a really stupid decision (IMHO).

What many people fail to realize it Creative had some accessories that have adapters that work with the Shuffle and the ipod however this alows them to actually put the "made for ipod" tag on it.
