Apple wants to extend the seasonal iPod buzz as long as possible. We know they will update both the iPod nano and full-size iPod, the question is when. I think it's safe to say nano first. Here's why.
iPod video, then nano
Everyone goes WOW at the iPod video, and the nano is a yawn in comparison. The buzz will explode but then fizzle out faster.
Both at the same time
Will create a huge buzz, but will then die out.
iPod nano, then video
The iPod nano will be considered pretty cool, and generate reasonable buzz. When it's fizzling out, the iPod video bomb will be dropped, keeping iPod buzz going all through the xmas season. Apple did this last year and boy did it work.

I agree that the expandability of the 24inch imac is impressive, but until I see ease of upgradability as well Im all for a mid range. Its also about the CPU, the C2D's are nice, but their not really a match for their desktop counterparts, there are some of us that want the power of a desktop but dont have the budget for the xeon range...
The Merom and Conroe are almost identical clock for clock. Really, if there's 1 or 2% difference in real world tests I'd be surprised and it's usually down to other factors like RAM or disk.

The store is noisy, so it is hard to say. To me neither was making a sound.
My 24" is dead quiet. I haven't heard the fans spin up once. That's including multi-hour gaming sessions and Video encoding.

It seems like a good idea, but if the movies can't be burned to DVD, it might be as big a failure as the store was a success. Unless, Apple were to relase a set top media center Mac to go with it.

Apple suggests that all of the new iMacs are expandable to 16GB ram, but 16GB ram isn't even an option for the 21" iMacs through their online store. Are the 21" iMacs only upgradeable to 8GB? Or has Apple given up on up-selling maxed out ram on the lower, cheaper models bought by "cheap" customers?

Any chance of new monitors as well? I am in the market and was just about to buy a Dell and thought maybe I should wait a week...

for me, the hardest part will be deciding whether or not to go with the 30 or go with the 80. i'll have to check it out at the store when they get them in stock.
i'm not sure if i want to keep my nano just because...

LOL - that is ridiculous.
I think they meant that the number of windows phone viruses will top the number of iphone viruses.

Who cares what color an iPod is. Shouldn't really matter. Color does not affect funtionality. What matters is what is on the inside.
Yeah, where are all the camo colored MacBook Pro's and magenta Mac Pro towers huh? Come on Apple! :p

This will continue until the Google Android threatens the iPhone. Then Apple will change their policy. Right now Apple simply does not have to care.
You have an excellent point there.

It is a market that sells apps. You know, and app market. No need for them to describe it as an App Store since that description would not fly over anyone's head.
But it is an "app store".

I do find it humorous that these analysts think they can see 2015 with any semblance of accuracy.
I find it also humorous the number of people in this forum who are positive that this WON'T happen, and don't think THAT is a prediction. ;)

OH NO, don't say that. Now we'll be inundated with 600 posts of "I want a mid tower Mac, headless, for $1200.00"
Whoops. Although I'd love to see a mid-tower Mac, I don't think it'll happen. Ever.
Perhaps we'll see a genuine Photoshop competitor? A proper editing suite of some sort (either that, or real editing functions integrated into Aperture)?
OK, now I'm just clutching at straws :o .

I just called 2 of my local (Northern Virginia) Apple retail stores, and the 80GB iPods aren't in stock as of yet. Looks like it will be a few days until they show up. Apple's online store shows shipping times of "1-3 days". :(

We don`t allow children to drive in the UK.
Think there`s a reason for that...
My brother is 17 and learning to drive. It scares me what he will be like on the road! Good job he lives a long way away :D

ya, there really appears to be no space for the Conroe chip in Apple's lineup... at least with the decisions they've made so far in updating the iMac to Merom.
arn
A mid-tower between the Mini and Pro seems to be the only possible home for Conroe. And, even though I would love to buy one, I'm not sure if Apple really want to release such a machine.
You never know though, we could be in for a nice surprise sometime soon.

Isn't there an aftermarket for this?
Not a real solution. Most people who want matte want the MBP type of option, no glass and real matte screen.

Yeah, the fact that there are no Mac viruses and Mac trojans are spectacularly unsuccessful means nothing.
And IOS devices are sitting ducks, being locked down to the point where users cannot load un-vetted applications.
Sheesh!

Please bring back the 24"! 21" - too small. 27" - too big. 24" - just right!
I'm sticking with my 24" Core2Duo until a new 24" model is released.
Nobody wants the 24". That's why they stopped making it. It was useless.

I have had a few BSODs in XP, but they are rare. Mainly I used to leave my tower on 24/7 and the worst I would get is switching my monitor on first thing in the morning or when I got home from work and see it had rebooted itself and was telling me it was an invalid system disc.
Since Mac, never once has this happened, (even though I tend to power down on this more often, I still often leave running 24/7 if it is doing something that requires up time).
Strangely enough, I am one fo the few that never had that many problems with ME.
Never had the BSOD on XP, but on ME ....WOW that was one shutty OS!
